Stopped by to check out LA Fitness. It is so hot on the basketball court it is almost impossible to be inside. Turn on the AC!!! Moreover, there was dirt on the floor. This would be such a nice facility if maintained properly.
Showed up at 6:10 pm knowing they close at 7 pm. Doors were locked and 2 employees sat at the front desk staring at me with a blank look - they watched me look up the club hours on my phone but never acknowledged me. Not sure why they locked the doors with over 45 minutes left of club hours - there was plenty of people in the gym??. Haven't been happy with this place for a while now for a few other reasons. If you're thinking of joining, might want to check out some other gyms in the area.
Removal of Basketball court while also trying to get money out of customers making that area of the gym membership only. What’s the point of having a membership in the first place if we have to pay for a second membership to access areas of the facility. Also the locking of the door an hour before close everyday. We as members don’t get a discount on rate for the hours you choose to not be open for us. And you decide to close before your actual hours of operations says your closed. Take care of your members that will improve retention, not money grabs!!
This was my first visit post-renovation. The gym is cluttered. The machines are too close to each other. They removed the basketball court and replaced it with a private training area that was totally empty; in fact the trainers were using machines outside of the “private” training room. I have canceled my membership and I would advise others to do the same. Why pay more and get less?!
This location can't seem to get their stuff together. They are back to not being able to open on time. 5:30 am and the doors are still shut on a Monday. Around 30 vehicles have waited and left. If you are a morning workout person you may want to consider somewhere else.
Club is good enough. But swarms of folks engrossed in their smart phones get in the way of those interested in a vigorous workout. Management needs to step up to the plate.
Joined four weeks ago. Two adults and a child on a guest pass. First day in on MLK with both kids went to bathroom, got a trainer yelling at me kids cant be back there, daughter was old enough to be there but he never asked her age. Triggered her anxiety so bad she never wanted to go back. Manager confronted said we didn't pay for kid zone but would be fixed because of the bad experience. Went back in, and it wasn't fixed. then a further $175 got billed to us. Spouse canceled membership after we paid over $400 with them saying we didnt pay the full registration fees plus first and last month. Found out the man who confronted us was the manager and he never did his job or fixed anything. Piss poor customer service and the one time I took my 5 year old into the kid zone he ended up peeing himself because the lady attendant wouldn't talk to him or help him find the bathroom.
Really like the upgrade! And it seems the entire staff has changed, too. Everyone seems very friendly and enthusiastic. I've even seen the sales and front desk staff helping out with cleaning and maintenance...not something you see unhappy employees doing. Great place to work out.
